WHAT MADRID PLAYERS FAILED TO GRAB

With yesterday's 2:0 defeat of Dortmund by Real Madrid insufficient to overturn the 4;1 deficit recorded in the first leg, Madrid has exited the the champions league semi finals for the third season running. But that's not all.

What this means is that Madrid has failed to get a final place berth that will  position to challenge for the coveted 10th champions league trophy.

It also means that the Special One may likely leave for Chelsea without lifting the coveted trophy.

But it also mean Madrid players will not have the opportunity to sleep with Mario Balotelli's girlfriend. Yes you heard me right.

Balotelli had challenged Madrid star studded squad to overturn the deficit against Dortmund and clinch the princely prize of sleeping with his girl friend. Yes its is a princely prize because a fortnight ago, Balotelli had attributed his recent form discovery to his girlfriend who he claims has really brought peace into his life.

“If Madrid beat Dortmund and qualify, I will let my girlfriend sleep with them” – Balotelli

In so doing, one may conclude Mario Balotelli might have condemned himself to the doghouse with girlfriend Fanny Neguesha after he reportedly made a bizarre comment about the Belgian model ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

But close watchers of the game know all too well that there is no love lost between Madrid's coach Jose Mourinho and Mario Balotelli as the duo did not get along during Jose Mourinho's reign back then at Inter Milan.

The current AC Milan striker may not necessarily be so confident that Dortmund will qualify for the Champions League final so much so that he could stake his girlfriend, rather Balotelli was simply voicing out his disdain for Mourinho.

So even if he is claimed to have said that he would allow the Spanish side’s squad to sleep with his girlfriend if they managed to upset the odds and pip the Germans to Wembley, he knows exactly what he meant.

Of course, seeing Madrid's failure to qualify for the semi finals last night will surely be a sweet one for Balotelli but even if reverse was the case, the Balotelli we know wouldn't have fulfilled this promise: ‘If Real Madrid come back in Champions League, I’ll let my girlfriend sleep with them!’

But all the same, Madrid players failed to grab Balotelli's bait.

Mario Balotelli claims love has set him free and is the reason behind his terrific form since leaving Manchester City for AC Milan.
The Italy international made the £19million switch in the January transfer window and has struck seven goals in only six games for the San Siro club and three in Italy’s last two matches.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini will have been wondering what had sparked such an immediate change in the 22-year-old.
Balotelli’s time at Etihad Stadium was notable primarily for the reports of his bizarre behaviour off the pitch and his failure to consistently produce on it.
However, the former Inter Milan star was well aware of what had causes the turnaround in his form and focus – the love of a good woman.

“Am I in love? Yes. She is determined, confident and generous,” he is quoted as saying in the Evening Standard.
“In a short space of time she found herself in sync with me. I could spend my whole life with someone like this. Thanks to Fanny I have rediscovered the balance that I need in my work.
“She puts our relationship first and foremost, so there are no distractions or rows before games. It’s not easy to be with me, because I almost have to give up on a private life, as I am constantly exposed to the public.”
Manchester City fans will be feeling a touch unlucky that Balotelli found love so soon after leaving the Citizens.
His current form may have been enough to keep Mancini’s club in touch with rivals Manchester United, who look certain to snatch the Premier League title back.
